Local LGBT advocacy organization MassEquality officially endorsed incumbent Gov. Deval Patrick in this year's gubernatorial race.

"How could we not?" MassEquality Executive Director Scott Gortikov asked reporters. "This governor has been with the LGBT community every step of the way."

The endorsement was announced shortly after Patrick marched in the Boston Pride Parade with MassEquality and his openly lesbian daughter Katherine, who interned with the organization in 2008.

Republican candidate Charlie Baker also marched in the Parade with his openly gay running mate, Richard Tisei. Independent candidate Tim Cahill did not attend the Parade.

Gortikov applauded Patrick's signing of a comprehensive anti-bullying bill, and said that the Democrat is the only gubernatorial candidate to support the Transgender Civil Rights Bill.
