A week ago Wednesday was the annual Miss and Mr. Noche Latina pageant, this year taking place at Bailo Nightclub. The presentation and theme of the pageant this year was "Gold," and the contestants (7 girls and 5 boys) were not playing. Mr. Noche Latina 2014, Rolly Villaverde did one of the best openings I have ever seen at a pageant and it blew the audience away. In the end, this pageant was so filled with talent that there was an exact tie for the girls at 489 out of 500 points, and therefore two Miss Noche Latinas were crowned, Missy Meyakie LePaige and Kalah Mendoza. The new Mr. Noche Latina is Monte St James.

A gallery talk by Stroke curator and New York-based artist Robert W. Richards and Leslie Lohman Museum Director Hunter O'Hanian will take place on Wednesday, February 4 at 7 pm. A public opening reception will be held on Friday, February 6, from 7 - 9 pm. "Stroke: From Under the Mattress to the Museum Wall" is a historical retrospective of sexy and erotic illustrations by artists who made work for the gay male magazines from the 1950s to the 1990s. Curated by New York-based illustrator Robert W. Richards, "Stroke" features 23 original illustrations. This exhibition of a forgotten body of work not only explores the male form, but, for the first time ever, offers an examination of gay male private life, as experienced through magazines which were available on nearly every street corner in America - but often kept under their mattresses for fear of being discovered. The exhibition will feature some original illustrations which appeared in the magazines, along with other works of art that have never been seen publicly.

Eric Schaeffer's new film "Boy Meets Girl" is a poignant, sexy, romantic coming of age comedy about three twenty year-olds living in Kentucky. Robby (Michael Welch, "Twilight") and his best friend since childhood, Ricky, a gorgeous transgender girl, have never dated. Lamenting the lack of eligible bachelors, Ricky considers dating a girl. In walks Francesca, a beautiful young debutante waiting for her Marine fiance to return from the war. Ricky and Francesca strike up a friendship, and maybe a little more, which forces Robby to face his true feelings for Ricky. This is a sex/human positive modern fable and identification with its story crosses all gender and sexual orientation lines.

Some of the awards it has received are: WINNER! - Audience Award, Best Feature, Teaneck International Film Festival; WINNER! - Best Feature, Iris Prize Festival; WINNER! - Jury Award, Best Feature, Memphis Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, and WINNER! - Audience Awards: Best Feature, Best Actress (Michelle Hendley), Best Supporting Actress (Alexandra Trushen), FilmOut San Diego.

This movie is currently playing at film festivals with a Run Time of 95 min. It will be available at WolfeVideo in the near future.
