Logo Says It Didn't Know About Gay Bachelor's Escort Past
READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Logo executives were apparently clueless that their bachelor for the upcoming gay dating show "Finding Prince Charming" was once an escort, according to a new report from The Wrap.
After photos of Robert Sepulveda Jr.'s decade-old now-defunct Rentboy.com's profile (and x-rated photos/videos) surfaced online, the prince charming in question confirmed to The Huffington Post he was a sex worker but hardly opened up on the subject, only saying "the past is the past."
The Wrap writes Logo had no idea about Sepulveda's history and that the network "was blindsided by the disclosure" and that execs are "scrambling to contain the PR nightmare as gay activists join the growing chorus of critics for a show that's been dubbed the gay version of 'The Bachelor.'"
A source told the website Logo followed "standard protocol" when they cast Sepulveda, who is a 33-year-old interior designer, and that "nothing came up during the background check."
"The network didn't find out until well into production," the source added, referencing Sepulveda's sex work past.
As Towleroad reports, Logo has given a statement about "Finding Prince Charming," which debuts on Sept. 8.
"'Finding Prince Charming' is a reality series about 13 people looking for Mr. Right. As in real life, the show will cover a range of topics people face when dating, from first time love to coming to terms with one's past, fear of commitment and even HIV. We look forward to taking viewers on a journey of the human spirit in search of love."
