How about some MAGAy madness?
It started when social media influencer and adult content creator James Adam Jacobson posted a pic on Instagram of himself and his boyfriend, Brent Cope, in revealing shirtless poses, each wearing hats for the opposing political candidates. Jacobson is in a blue one with HARRIS WALZ on it; Cope is with a red one with Make America Great Again. They are both clad in sweat pants worn so low as to reveal their pubic hair. Jacobson's caption reads: "We're boyfriends and I don't care who he votes for."
Others did care, and the reaction came so quick and strong that Jacobson deleted the post. He then wrote on his IG stories, with another pic of himself in his HARRIS WALZ hat, "I posted a picture with my boyfriend who's a republican (I'm a democrat) and am being harassed online with hundreds of hateful comments.This type of bullying is why Liam Payne ended his life."
That Jacobson was shocked, shocked by the response is a little bit strange, given how extremely contentious this year's Presidential campaign is. Trump is becoming the Borat of candidates, pulling stunts (such as having a crowd repeat that Kamala Harris is a "shit" candidate at a recent rally), which has lowered the discourse to such new low that it has become performance art. That, and the looming Project 25 directives that want to strip the LGBTQ+ community of the civil rights gains of the past decade, might leave one wondering why Jacobson is outraged that many struck back at his "we fuck/don't talk politics" message.
X user Jamie Lee Squirtis went so far as to call out their white privilege in a clever paraphrase of Jacobson: "We're boyfriends & idc who he votes for even though he's voting for someone who wants to take away all our rights & ensures we can't get married or any other protections but it doesn't really matter bc we're both yt so we won't be affected that hard so".
Jacobson's post even got a celebrity response that included the "yt" reference.
"Are the yt gays okay?" the Captain America actor asked.
Someone in the chain asked why Jacobson brought Liam Payne into this.
This brought a response from Jacobson that aimed to blunt criticism through shaming critics with a confessional post.
