Gay Twitter Roundup: The Best of 'I Hate Gay Halloween,' 'Wicked' Poster Memes & Shawn Mendes's Phone

Andrea Marks Joseph READ TIME: 3 MIN.

Queer people being online has made the world a more beautiful, and more unhinged place, in the best way. We make things funnier, cooler, more horny, and always have a lasting cultural impact. We love rounding the best of Gay Twitter (now known as X) to celebrate and honor the greatest queer moments on the increasingly wild (but somehow also wonderful) timeline.

It's very important to honor those who came before us (the "And they were roommates! Oh my god, they were roommates!" video. The woman in the green dress who said, yes, she is having a "bright summer") and to look to the future, where new pop songs soundtrack our lives, and Addison Rae gets her flowers.

Also included in this round-up are some very horny tweets: The way Shawn Mendes enthusiastically said "You've never seen fingers that thick in your life, I'm sure" will never ever leave our brains, and Jonathan Bailey's GlamBot blazer swish is an incredible serve. Enjoy!

So much has happened in one week: We got a devastating update on the state of gay sex in the Vatian –but we await confirmation from the Bottom Official. An X user came out to her mom and her mom... came out to her right back! Cynthia Erivo got super dramatic about a fan-made poster –created to model the hugely popular greatest "Wicked" poster of all time– changed her facial expression from the one where she's "looking down the barrel of the camera" to the iconic smirk; and Halsey's "The Greatest Impersonator" photoshoots were so excellent that the internet began to create fictional versions.

It's been a wonderland of gay-adjacent and queer artist music releases! We got absolute banger "Bigger in Texas" from Meg Thee Stallion, future pop girl sounds and choreography in "Aquamarine" from Addison Rae, and Lady Gaga's "Disease" in one day –Of course, we had to tweet about it. Real or not, the person listening to "Disease" in the middle of a typhoon is an image we will not soon forget.

Halloween is a gay event. Whether referencing a classic camp horror film, or embodying a deeply niche meme, we own the moment. "I hate gay Halloween" tweets are both hilarious and serve as potential costume ideas. Arriving at the club as the churro from "Challengers" has got to be step one to becoming a beloved patron at your local gay club; and dressing up as Paul Mescal's Sweetgreen product placement paparazzi ad, complete with short-shorts and the wired-earphones, is a new level of icon behavior.

It wouldn't be Gay Twitter without a fair share of thirst traps, thirsty tweets, and a general aura of horniness. Why does Shawn Mendes have closeups of this guy's "thick fingers" saved to his phone?

It also wouldn't be Twitter without incredible –some may even say iconic– reads. "Project Runway" contestant Tyler asking Karlie Kloss "Not even to dinner with the Kushers?" will always, always be impeccable. We make history everywhere we go, from the "And they were roommates! Oh my god, they were roommates" meme, to the "Girls, get her!" barista guy, who has since shared a brilliant bonus "I've got eyes on the gay guy" video.

Like most queer people online, lesbians have found a twisted home and uniting community on X. There's true sapphic joy to be found in the ensemble cast of "Agatha All Along," the immense creativity that "your favorite artist's favorite artist", Chappell Roan, inspires, and a reflection on how seriously lesbian "Killing Eve" has always been.

We hope you enjoyed this round-up ...If you know what we mean.
