10 Adventurous, Curious & Passionate Celebs We're Celebrating for Sagittarius Season
Andrea Marks Joseph READ TIME: 11 MIN.
Sagittarians are optimistic, energetic, and passionate about chasing a sense of freedom –for themselves, as this is when they can have the most impact, and for others. Sagittarians are motivated by a sense of justice and a love for their community. They have a boundless enthusiasm, craving both travel and philosophical conversations. When these free spirits chase their heart's desire, they can really change the world, making it a better place for all of us. "What makes Sagittarius so unique," reports Allure, "is its dynamic blend of passion, curiosity, intensity, and adaptability. Represented by the archer (a half-man, half-horse centaur), Sagittarius isn't afraid to use its bow and arrow to explore expansive terrain, seeking answers in places and spaces others wouldn't dare venture."
These queer Sagittarians are adventurous (food travel show host and chef, Kristen Kish; queer icon, Janelle Monáe), known for expressing their creativity (trans poet, filmmaker, and artist Chella Man; soon-to-be "Queer Eye" interior designer Jeremiah Brent), storytelling through music (Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Billie Eilish; "Gay Street Fighter" musician Keiynan Lonsdale) and film (the magnificent, endlessly stylish Colman Domingo; ethereal nonbinary actor Emma Corrin; the talented, chameleonic Nathan Stewart-Jarrett), and generously sharing their beauty with us (every photoshoot starring model and actor Zane Phillips is hotter than the next.) USA Today reports that "Sagittarians see the world as a place where there are no limits, no boundaries. Anything is possible." With the strength, hope, and endless talent in each of these queer celebs, and their enthusiasm for sharing their passions with the world, we couldn't agree more!
Kristen Kish
The "Top Chef" winner who now hosts the reality competition show and her own food travel documentaries, is a fantastic example of how Sagittarians' zest for life is fueled by their curiosity, adventurous nature, and their desire to try new things at every possible chance. Kristen Kish's Sagittarian spirit is clear to us in her cooking, her travels to experience landscapes unlike anything she's seen before, the way she is energized by meeting interesting people all over the world, and in her delight for sharing delicious food with them. Cosmopolitan's description of a typical Sagittarius' love for travel and talk is very true to Kish's presence on our screens: "Wide open space, far-reaching seas, a distant horizon... These things make Saggies grin, because they LOVE to get out there and roam around discovering new places, cultures and people. New landscapes stimulate them; they are the zodiac's great adventurer."
Jeremiah Brent
Interior designer, husband to Nate Berkus, father of two adorable children, and newest member of the Netflix "Queer Eye" Fab Five, Jeremiah Brent is a handsome, charming creative whose work is all about soaking in inspiration from unexpected places and bringing them together to make a beautiful home. His interior design work requires that he follow his heart anywhere it wishes, allowing a vast array of countries and cultures to enrich his view of what is beautiful and what is possible. Brent's Sagittarian heart shines through in his choice of career (for a Sagittarius, a sense of fulfillment is strongest when there is a practical, tangible output), his love for traveling with his family, and his sophisticated design choices. His Sagittarian nature is clear in his love for using large slabs of marble in the home (Sagittarians love to be surrounded by natural elements) and in the generous, compassionate way he connects with people while designing safe spaces for them on his various HGTV home design shows, "Nate and Jeremiah: Save My House" among them.
Zane Phillips
People born under Sagittarius are fueled by leaning into what inspires them: Exploring their creativity, following their curiosity, and allowing themselves to express their energetic nature in whichever medium they desire. This brings joy and fun into a Sagittarius' life, and makes sure that no two days are the same. Sagittarian energy is warm, welcoming, and healthily ambitious. The outdoor adventures, fierce gym workouts, willpower and perseverance that's required to keep a body as toned and breathtaking as this "Fire Island" actor and all-round hunk must be at least in part fueled by his star sign –and we love that he often blesses us with the evidence of all this hard work! Every sexy, shirtless photoshoot where Zane Phillips is posing strategically to show off his sculpted biceps radiates Sagittarius energy. We thank the stars for each and every one!
Billie Eilish
Sagittarians are talented and hardworking, always up for an adventure. They're also known for the deep connection they forge with animals. Cosmopolitan magazine has called Sagittarians "the zodiac's Doctor Dolittle," for their innate preference for spending time with animals, and natural inclination for being around them as much as possible. Grammy award-winning musician Billie Eilish bringing her pitbull, Shark, along with her to some tour stops during her "Hit Me Hard and Soft" tour (and even scoring him a Vogue magazine cover!) is evidence of her animal-loving Sagittarius heart. "Sagittarius energy is momentous, optimistic and expansive," says the New York Post, aligning the queer musician's lifestyle to her Sagittarian nature: "These folks seek strange shores and new horizons personally and professionally and their guiding philosophy is "Why not?"" It's an outlook that has brought Eilish to breathtaking landmark career moments, made even more remarkable at her young age.
Janelle Monáe
A Sagittarius thrives when they're free to run wild with their passions and follow their heart wherever it leads. This desire for fresh perspectives and new environments does not come from an unhealthy place of avoidance, but rather a need to be inspired, enriched, and engage with the world around them. Groundbreaking icon and queer creative Janelle Monáe is one of the greatest examples of the magic, power, and magnificence that is possible when a Sagittarius has the freedom to be themselves in every aspect of their lives. The nonbinary artist has long used their statement style and otherworldly outlook as a signifier to their community. With their latest project, "The Age of Pleasure," Monáe has fully leaned into their joyful upliftment of the queer community, and reflected on the importance of sapphic art. Monáe told Rolling Stone, "Being a queer black woman in America, someone who has been in relationships with both men and women – I consider myself to be a free-ass motherf–ker." In expressing themself as a free being, the artist has encouraged her audience to do the same. Allure warns: "If you are lucky enough to link up with one of these archers, be sure to buckle up and have your passport ready." With the "Glass Onion" actor's escapades all summer long, shared through their humorous, mysterious Instagram captions about their and their target's international spy shenanigans, Monáe could not be more fiercely Sagittarius, and we love them for it.
Emma Corrin
In order for a Sagittarius to feel they are living a full and fulfilling life, it's imperative that they feel a true sense of freedom –in who they are, how they express themself, and how they spend their time. English actor Corrin, who casually announced they're nonbinary by changing their pronouns on Instagram, has made their mark in history with several landscape-shifting magazine covers and photoshoots where they shine simply by being themself. The "My Policeman" and "The Crown" actor has found playful ways to express their personality through fashion, most notably: their red carpet moment in a dress that transforms the wearer into a fish-holding vessel à la "Finding Nemo," and of course the unforgettable silverware dress.
Chella Man
Sagittarians are equipped with the ability to create in multiple mediums, the driving force for their art being a sense of justice, their philosophical outlook, and care for community. They're fueled by their capacity to bring people together to showcase and discuss an issue that is close to their heart. Chella Man is an extraordinary combination of these Sagittarius traits, a one-of-a-kind artistic talent whose work extends even to the act of creating their body, building it into a home that aligns with their knowledge of self. The artist uses their many marginalized identities as a place from which to love and to learn. The energizing curiosity is so Sagittarius, and it lives deep and bright within Chella Man, who has shared intimate diary entries, video logs, sculptures built with their hands, published poetry collections, and made a short film –each of these striking artworks inviting their audience to join them on a journey of understanding the world and their place in it.
Keiynan Lonsdale
Sagittarians are able to see the goodness in our future. They are electrified by the knowledge that new discoveries are out there waiting for them. It's clear in the way that every music release from Lonsdale conveys a new level of confidence –in himself, in queerness, in his story, and in the way he performs it– that can only have come from a journey of introspection and the strength that comes with finding your community. Lonsdale has a fearlessness in him that Sagittarians know well –to them, adventure means enrichment. The "Love Simon" and "My Fake Boyfriend" actor's songs ("Kiss the Boy" and "Gay Streetfighter" among them) radiate queer pride, power, and comfort to anyone who listens to them. Sagittarians believes the future is filled with potential, a place to discover and travel towards with hope. Lonsdale's creative expression –through every lyric, dance performance, and music video– is generous with the hope he lives in, making sure to share it with us.
Colman Domingo
Sagittarians have a warm nature and a welcoming spirit. It's a joy to be around them, and a blessing to witness the work they do when they commit to expressing their true selves. Remarkable out actor and absolute icon Colman Domingo is everything a Sagittarius could (and should) hope to be. His passion for telling impactful stories and simultaneous commitment to serving on every red carpet is so Sagittarius. When a Sagittarius is fueled by their desire for freedom and their interest in community and philosophy, their lives feel so much more fulfilling. Known to be surrounded by friends and admirers, and fueled by a deeper meaning to their work, Sagittarians can really change the world for the better. Domingo certainly is –completely with his uniquely suave nature, true compassion, and impeccable suits.
Nathan Stewart-Jarrett
The brilliant, handsome British stage and screen actor's performances as queer men in "Femme," "Genera+ion," and "Culprits" (among many others!) have always been heartfelt, nuanced, and powerful. The way Nathan Stewart-Jarrett is able to unlock such vulnerability, beautifully conveying the intricacies of what it means to be a human, is a testament to his Sagittarian heart. Each of his roles are so different –drag performer, family man, elite thief, high school guidance counselor– and yet unified in the way his acting skills are evidence of his very Sagittarian curiosity, hunger for knowledge, and commitment to understanding (and in his case, embodying) the unflinching reality of each character, portraying them with a fierce honesty that's innate to Sagittarians. It's through creatives like Stewart-Jarrett, who are committed to storytelling that unites and enthralls us, that Sagittarians make the world a more inclusive, brighter place for us all. We love them all for it.
