"Queer Eye" may be going into its final season, but former cast member Bobby Berk has lined up a whole new gig: He's set to host HGBV's reality show "Junk or Jackpot?"

"In the six-episode season, Berk is tasked with helping homeowners decide if they should part with their unique collections – from 'superhero figurines' to 'rare puppets and dolls' – in order to raise enough funds to renovate their outdated homes, the network shared in a press release," People Magazine relayed in an exclusive report.

"I'm excited to help passionate people sift through their cherished items and give them reimagined spaces that will best honor what they hold dear," People quoted Berk, 43, saying in the release.

Executive producer John Cena – yes, that John Cena, the WWE wrestling star-turned-film actor – weighed in, explaining the show's genesis.

"The idea for 'Junk or Jackpot?' was born out of a conversation I had with friends," Cena said in the release. "People often wonder if their collections are trash or treasure, and this show will help them find out."

People took note of the announcement's timing, coming as it did only a day after news broke of the commencement of Season 10 of "Queer Eye" – along with the simultaneous news that the long-running show will finish with the upcoming season.

Berk was a member of the show's cast for its first eight seasons, but departed before Season 9 went into production because, as he explained, the cast's contracts had expired and he did not expect new contracts would be offered. According to Berk, he lined up other projects before the show's cast were offered contracts beyond those first eight seasons. Jeremiah Brent was chosen to replace Berk starting in Season 9.

Rumors flew prior to Season 9 about Berk's exit and Brent replacing him, with some speculating that Tan France had maneuvered to oust Berk and install Brent. France denied the story in no uncertain terms.

HGTV's announcement of Berk's new project was not the only news from the network. People reported that "HGTV shocked viewers by seemingly canceling 5 fan-favorite shows," including "Battle on the Beach," "Bargain Block," "Farmhouse Fixer," "Izzy Does It," and "Married to Real Estate."

However, "HGTV's July lineup includes the return of 'Celebrity IOU with Drew and Jonathan Scott' and the 'Property Brothers' stars' new series, 'Chasing the West,'" People went on to add.
