Fenway announces new board president, other board changes

Fenway Community Health has announced new officers, a new member for its board of directors and a new chair for its board of visitors for the upcoming year.

Allison Salke was elected to Fenway's board of directors in May 2003 and will now serve as the chair of the board. Salke is the chief executive officer of the financial services company Gordon & Co., where she specializes in securities. Alongside Salke is new vice-chair David Breen, also a member of the board since 2003. A graduate of the Boston University School of Law, Breen teaches trial advocacy and lectures on personal privacy issues. The Greater Boston Business Council also honored Breen in 2002 for his outstanding service to the Massachusetts LGBT community.

Other changes to the board include Richard Marshall's transition from vice-chair to an at-large position and the addition of new member Doug Spencer. Robin Atlas and Deborah Daccord will remain in their positions as treasurer and clerk. Fenway also named Carl Rosendorf, an independent consultant with experience in online business, as chair of Fenway's board of visitors.

"We are excited to have such committed and capable individuals to help guide Fenway as we move forward into a historic year for the organization," said Fenway Community Health President & CEO Dr. Stephen Boswell in a press release.

Just two years ago Fenway Community Health began construction at 1330 Boylston Street in Boston's West Fens neighborhood. The 10-story project promises to be the nation's largest LGBT health care facility when it is completed next year. This facility will be five times the size of their current health and research center, and Salke said she is optimistic about the progress of the project and the impact it will have on Fenway's work.

"This enables a lot of the operations to be brought under one roof and facilitate conversation with the entire staff. ... We'll still have the other buildings which are smaller and more specific to better serve the community," said Salke who went on to compliment the Fenway staff.

"Fenway has such talented people, it's a pleasure getting to associate with the various staff members."
